“God’s Got This” — The Miracles of Little Carson Curry
From the moment Carson Curry took his first breath, he was fighting for his life.
Born in Fayette, Alabama, with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) — a rare and life-threatening condition where the left side of the heart doesn’t fully develop — Carson’s journey began not in a nursery, but in an operating room. At just seven days old, he underwent his first open-heart surgery. By four months, he had endured another. Each procedure carried immense risk, and each time, his parents, Tyler and Ashley, waited in sterile hallways, clinging to faith.
Carson survived. Small. Fragile. Fierce.
💔 The December That Changed Everything
Last December, the Curry family dared to dream of a “normal” holiday season. But one quiet evening shattered that hope. Without warning, Carson’s heart stopped. Ashley screamed for help. Tyler performed CPR. Paramedics arrived. For one terrifying moment, time stood still.
Then, against all odds, Carson came back.
His grandmother, Michelle Curington, remembers standing outside the ICU, whispering the same desperate prayer: “God, please. Not yet. He’s not done here.” And somehow — through medicine, miracles, and mercy — Carson’s heart began to beat again.
❤️ A Heart Waiting for a Heart
After the cardiac arrest, doctors at Children’s of Alabama knew Carson’s heart was failing. They implanted a ventricular assist device (VAD) — a mechanical pump to keep him alive until a donor heart could be found. It was his third open-heart surgery before his fifth birthday.
The waiting was agonizing. Machines hummed day and night. His parents read bedtime stories by the glow of monitors. Michelle rubbed lotion into his hands, whispering prayers into the stillness.
Then, one night, the call came. A heart was available. A perfect match.
🌤️ The Miracle and the Setback
The transplant surgery was long and delicate. When doctors finally emerged, they were smiling. The new heart was strong. It was beating beautifully. Tyler and Ashley cried tears of relief.
But the joy was short-lived. Just one day later, Carson suffered a stroke — a devastating complication that left him unable to speak or respond. Michelle’s voice trembled as she recalled that moment: “We were so full of joy one day, and so full of fear the next.”
🙏 Holding On to Faith
In the days that followed, hope returned in small, beautiful ways. Carson began to move his arms and legs, open his eyes, and wiggle his toes. “Carson’s vitals are good,” Michelle shared. “His new heart is doing beautifully. We’re just praying for a full recovery.”
Every morning, his parents pray over him. Michelle visits often, her faith unshaken. “We believe God’s got this,” she says. “He already gave us one miracle. Now, we just need another.”
🌈 The Power of a Praying Community
The Curry family’s journey has become a living testimony to faith and community. Friends, neighbors, church members, and strangers have rallied behind them, flooding social media with the hashtag #CarsonStrong. Every message, every prayer, every act of kindness has become a lifeline.
💙 The Boy Who Knows
If you saw Carson now — wrapped in hospital blankets, tiny wires tracing the rhythm of his heartbeat — you might see fragility. But those who know him see strength. Even when he cannot speak, Carson’s presence fills the room. His eyelashes flutter like whispers of determination. His chest rises steadily — the new heart beating strong, steady, faithful.
“When you see God perform a miracle right in front of you,” Michelle says softly, “it changes your outlook on everything.”
🌟 The Miracle in Motion
Carson’s journey is far from over. There will be months of therapy, endless checkups, and new challenges. But there will also be laughter, healing, and light. Every beat of his new heart is a gift — a melody of grace echoing through the halls of the hospital, through the hearts of everyone who loves him, through the faith of a family that never stopped believing.
Someday soon, Carson will speak again. He’ll run and laugh and play the way little boys should. And when that day comes, his family already knows what his first words will mean — even if he doesn’t say them out loud:
💖 “God’s got this.”
Because Carson already knows. He always has. And through every miracle still to come — he always will.
