
Losing 93 Kilograms by Eating Only Meat and Eggs for Half a Year — Even the Doctor Was Shocked
In a world where fad diets come and go, one man’s extreme weight-loss journey has caught the attention of both health experts and the public. After struggling with obesity for years, 36-year-old Minh Tran from Vietnam made a radical decision: for six straight months, he ate nothing but meat and eggs. The results? He lost an astonishing 93 kilograms—and even his doctor was stunned by the transformation.
At his heaviest, Minh weighed over 160 kilograms (approximately 353 pounds). His health was rapidly deteriorating. He suffered from sleep apnea, high blood pressure, joint pain, and constant fatigue. “I felt like I was dying slowly,” Minh admitted in an interview. “Every step was difficult, every day was a struggle.”
He had tried many diets before—low-carb, keto, intermittent fasting, and even detox programs—but nothing gave lasting results. That’s when he came across a controversial dietary movement known as the carnivore diet, which encourages consuming only animal products, typically meat, eggs, and sometimes dairy. The theory behind it is that by eliminating all processed foods, sugars, and plant-based carbohydrates, the body enters a state of ketosis and burns fat for fuel.
It sounded extreme, but Minh was desperate. With the approval of a doctor willing to monitor him, he began his meat-and-egg-only regimen in early January.
The first few weeks were challenging. He experienced headaches, mood swings, and what many call the “keto flu”—symptoms that occur when the body adjusts to using fat as its primary energy source. But after the first month, he started to notice significant changes. His energy levels increased, his cravings disappeared, and most importantly, the number on the scale began to drop quickly.
Each day, Minh consumed beef, chicken, pork, and about 6 to 8 eggs. He drank only water, black coffee, and occasionally bone broth. There was no rice, no vegetables, no fruits, and no sugar. “It was boring, I won’t lie,” Minh laughed. “But I stayed focused on the goal. I kept reminding myself that food is fuel, not entertainment.”
By the end of the six-month period, Minh had dropped to 67 kilograms (about 148 pounds). His blood pressure normalized, he no longer snored at night, and he could walk, jog, and even run short distances without pain. When he went for a follow-up appointment, his doctor couldn’t believe the results. “This is one of the most dramatic transformations I’ve ever seen,” the physician reportedly said. “But it’s also one of the most unusual.”
Nutritionists remain divided on the long-term effects of such a restrictive diet. While short-term weight loss and metabolic improvements are common, concerns remain about the lack of dietary fiber, vitamins, and the potential strain on the kidneys and liver. Minh’s doctor advised him to slowly reintroduce vegetables and fruits into his meals while maintaining a high-protein focus.
Minh, now a fitness advocate on social media, shares his journey to inspire others struggling with weight issues. However, he is quick to warn people not to copy him blindly. “What worked for me may not work for everyone,” he says. “You need to listen to your body and consult with professionals. This was my personal choice, and I took full responsibility for it.”
His story is a reminder that determination, discipline, and a willingness to take control of one’s health can lead to extraordinary outcomes—even if the path seems unconventional. Whether or not the carnivore diet is the answer, Minh’s journey proves that with the right mindset, transformation is always possible.
