šŸŽ¬ PART 2: Ā«The Daughter They Left BehindĀ»

The whole ballroom turned toward the older woman.

She stared at the server on the floor like she had seen a ghost wearing a beige uniform.

The woman in green shook her head.

ā€œNo. I don’t have a sister.ā€

The server slowly reached into her apron pocket and pulled out a small gold bracelet.

It was bent, old, and scratched, but the name engraved on it was still clear.

Emma.

The older woman covered her mouth.

The woman in green looked at the bracelet, then at the server’s face.

Her voice broke.

ā€œThat was my twin sister’s bracelet.ā€

The server nodded through tears.

ā€œI know.ā€

The older woman stumbled forward.

ā€œThey told me you died.ā€

The server looked at her, pain shaking in every word.

ā€œNo. They gave me away because Father didn’t want two daughters splitting the inheritance.ā€

The room went silent.

The woman in green stepped back, horrified by the hand she had just used.

ā€œI slapped you,ā€ she whispered.

The server wiped her tears, trying to stand.

ā€œYou didn’t know me.ā€

The older woman fell to her knees beside her and touched her face with shaking hands.

ā€œMy baby.ā€

The server finally broke.

She leaned into the woman’s arms and cried like a child who had waited her whole life to be held.

And the sister who had worn diamonds all night stood frozen in the middle of her birthday party, realizing the girl she humiliated was the gift her family had stolen from her.
