🎬 PART 2: «The Father She Was Never Allowed to Know»

Emma stared at him like he had spoken in another language.

“No,” she whispered. “My daddy is my daddy.”

Her mother covered her mouth as tears slid down her face.

“He is,” she said quickly. “He raised you. He loves you more than anything.”

Emma’s eyes filled. “Then why is this man here?”

The stranger took one careful step forward, but stopped when Emma flinched.

“My name is Daniel,” he said gently. “I didn’t know about you until last week.”

Emma looked at her mother.

Her voice broke.

“You lied to me?”

Her mother’s shoulders began to shake.

“I was scared. I was young. Your dad wanted to protect you. He said one day we would tell you together.”

“Then where is he?” Emma cried.

Her mother closed her eyes.

That silence hurt more than any answer.

Daniel reached for the coffee table and picked up a phone with a cracked screen.

“Your father had an accident this morning,” he said softly. “He called me from the hospital.”

Emma’s breath caught.

“No.”

“He asked me to come,” Daniel continued, his voice breaking. “He said if anything happened, you deserved to know the truth from someone who loved you.”

Emma dropped her backpack.

Her mother rushed to her, but Emma stepped away.

“You were sitting here while Daddy is in the hospital?”

Her mother sobbed. “I was trying to find the words.”

Emma’s little hands curled into fists.

“I don’t want words. I want him.”

The room froze.

Then the phone rang.

Her mother grabbed it with shaking fingers.

“Yes?”

Her face collapsed before she spoke.

Emma knew before she heard it.

Her mother fell to her knees.

Daniel closed his eyes.

Emma’s voice came out tiny.

“Is Daddy gone?”

No one answered.

So Emma ran.

She ran down the hall to her parents’ bedroom, opened the drawer, and pulled out the old photo album her father kept hidden.

Inside the front cover was a letter written in his handwriting.

For Emma, when she learns the truth.

Her hands trembled as she opened it.

The first line read:

You may not have my blood, sweetheart, but every beat of my heart has been yours since the day I held you.
