Longer. Darker. More expensive than anything on the street.

It stopped smoothly beside them.

The doors opened.

Two sharply dressed men stepped out first, scanning the surroundings. Then, an older man in a tailored suit followed — his presence alone commanding silence.

The crowd stepped back instinctively.

The girl walked toward him.

“Sorry to keep you waiting,” she said casually.

The man nodded respectfully.
“Miss, everything is ready.”

The young man’s face went pale.
“…What is going on?”

The girl turned back to him, her expression no longer soft — now confident, almost untouchable.

“I wanted to see if you loved me without knowing who I really am,” she said.
“And you did.”

She glanced at his mother.

“But not everyone passed the test.”

The mother stood frozen, her confidence shattered.

“Who… who are you?” she asked quietly.

The girl smiled faintly.

“My family owns half of this district,” she said. “Including the company your son works for.”

Silence crashed over the street.

The young man stared at her, shocked — but then, slowly, he smiled.

“So… was any of it real?” he asked.

She stepped closer.

“Yes,” she said softly. “That’s why you’re still here.”

The wind moved gently through the trees as the sunset deepened.

This time, when he took her hand—

There was no doubt.
