Part 2 : The hospital room was too white

Too quiet.

Ethan stood at the doorway of St. Marlow Medical Center, staring at the frail woman lying in the bed.

Mia.

Older. Weaker. But unmistakably her.

Her eyes opened slowly.

And the moment she saw him, tears filled them instantly.

“You came…” she whispered.

Ethan couldn’t speak. Years of anger, confusion, and heartbreak collapsed into one breath.

“You vanished,” he finally said. “No explanation. No goodbye. I searched for you everywhere.”

Mia turned her face slightly toward the window, as if the light hurt.

“I didn’t leave you,” she said. “I was taken.”

Ethan froze.

Mia’s hand moved weakly toward the bedside table. A medical file lay there.

“After I found out I was pregnant… I was threatened,” she continued. “Your business rivals… they said they would destroy you if I stayed close.”

Ethan’s fists tightened.

“So you disappeared?” he whispered. “You let me believe you were gone forever?”

Tears rolled down her cheeks.

“I had no choice. They said they would take our child.”

Silence.

Then—

The door opened slightly.

Lily stepped in, holding the same torn plastic bag.

She looked at both of them.

Then softly asked:

“Mom… is he my dad?”

Mia closed her eyes.

One tear fell.

“Yes,” she whispered.

Ethan’s entire world collapsed and rebuilt itself in the same second.

He stepped forward slowly.

For the first time in nine years…

He didn’t lose her.

He found both of them.

And outside the hospital window, the city kept moving—

completely unaware that a broken family had just been reborn.
