Vaseline Clove Collagen Oil: Young-Looking, Glowing, Flawless Skin

Petroleum jelly is famous for its ability to seal in moisture and protect a compromised skin barrier, while clove bud essential oil is packed with the antioxidant eugenol, which can help defend collagen fibers from free-radical damage. When you combine these two powerhouses with a thoughtfully balanced mix of humectants, carrier oils, and vitamins, you create a simple yet remarkably effective “collagen oil.” This balm-like treatment cushions the skin, softens fine lines, brightens dull tone, and leaves a dewy, glass-skin finish—all without relying on expensive commercial serums.

Chemistry

The formula below uses only easily found pantry or drug-store ingredients, takes ten minutes to make, and keeps well for up to three months when stored in a cool, dark place.

Ingredients Required

(Makes about 30 g)

  • 2 teaspoons petroleum jelly (Vaseline) – occlusive layer that locks in moisture
  • 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil – lightweight emollient rich in fatty acids
  • 1 teaspoon rosehip seed oil – natural source of vitamins A and C for collagen support
  • ½ teaspoon jojoba oil – wax ester that closely resembles human sebum, helping to balance oiliness
  • ¼ teaspoon vegetable glycerin – humectant that attracts water into the outer skin layers
  • 2 drops vitamin E oil (tocopherol) – antioxidant that helps soothe and repair
  • 1 drop clove bud essential oil – concentrated antioxidant and antimicrobial boost (keep dilution around 0.3 %)
  • Optional pinch (about ⅛ teaspoon) turmeric powder – adds curcumin for extra brightening and anti-inflammatory power

Procedure

  1. Melt and temper
Place the petroleum jelly in a heat-safe glass bowl. Set the bowl over a pot of barely simmering water until the jelly turns liquid (around 40 °C). Remove the bowl from heat.
  2. Blend in carrier oils
Stir the sweet almond, rosehip, and jojoba oils into the warmed jelly, whisking gently until the mixture looks uniform and glossy.
  3. Add humectant and antioxidant
Mix in the vegetable glycerin and vitamin E oil. Continue whisking so everything emulsifies smoothly.
  4. Dilute the essential oil
Let the blend cool to just above body temperature (no hotter than 37 °C) before adding a single drop of clove bud essential oil. This ensures the active compounds remain potent while staying within safe dilution limits.
  5. Optional turmeric tint
If you’d like a golden hue and curcumin benefits, sift in a tiny pinch of turmeric powder and whisk until evenly dispersed.
  6. Set and store
Pour the finished oil-gel into a sterilized 30 g amber or opaque cosmetic jar, cap tightly, and label with the date. It will re-solidify at room temperature, forming a balm with a velvety finish.
