A 12-year-old girl came to a job interview at a large international company and confidently claimed that she spoke
seven languages; the owner of the company simply laughed in her face… until the girl did something that left the
entire office frozen in shock
Interviews at the headquarters of the international company had been going on since early morning. The enormous
glass building in the center of the city looked so expensive and intimidating that many candidates became nervous
before they even walked through the entrance. In the spacious lobby, people sat with folders and laptops, quietly
talking among themselves and constantly glancing at the doors of the conference room where their futures were
being decided.
Every few minutes, someone walked out with a gloomy expression. One man angrily adjusted his tie and whispered
into his phone that he had been rejected. A young woman with tears in her eyes hurried toward the elevator. Even
experienced professionals looked confused and discouraged after their interviews.
The reason was simple.
The owner of the company personally conducted the final selection of candidates.
His name was Richard Hoffman. In the business world, he was known as a very harsh man who never pitied anyone
and never gave second chances. He sat at a long table together with department directors, carefully watching every
candidate while asking difficult questions in different languages.
The secretary tiredly opened the door and said loudly:
— Next.
But when the people in the lobby saw who stood up from the chair, a surprised murmur immediately spread through
the room.
A small girl around twelve years old calmly walked toward the door.
She was wearing simple jeans, a gray T-shirt, and old sneakers. In her hands she carried a thin folder filled with
papers. The girl looked far too young for a place like this, yet she walked confidently and without the slightest fear.
Several people in the lobby quietly started laughing.
— Is she lost?
— Is that someone’s daughter?
— Maybe it’s a school trip?
But the girl did not even look in their direction and calmly entered the conference room.
Silence immediately filled the long table.
Richard Hoffman slowly raised his eyes from the documents and stared at the child standing before him for several
seconds.
Then he smirked.
— Little girl, I think you walked into the wrong room.
Several people at the table quietly laughed.
But the girl calmly sat down in the chair across from him and replied:
— No. I came for the interview.
Soft laughter echoed through the room again.
One of the managers shook his head.
— This is too much.
Another man smirked.
— And what exactly do you want to work as? The CEO?
But the girl did not even smile.
She sat calmly, looking directly at the owner of the company.
— I speak seven languages and can work as a translator of international contracts.
After those words, real laughter broke out in the room.
One employee even leaned back in his chair.
— Seven languages? Seriously?
— Do you even know English properly?
Richard also smiled and crossed his arms over his chest.
— Alright then. And what languages do you speak?
The girl calmly answered:
— English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Italian.
Several people exchanged looks and started laughing again.
— Of course.
— Next she’ll probably say she learned them all by herself.
But the girl remained completely serious. Soon afterward, however, she did something that left the entire office in
total shock The continuation of this incredible story can be found in the first comment
At that moment, Richard decided to play along with her a little longer.
He suddenly switched to German:
— If you really know languages, answer me now.
And suddenly the girl replied to him in flawless German without the slightest pause.
So calmly and correctly that the smiles instantly disappeared from several employees’ faces.
Richard slightly frowned.
Then the woman sitting to his right unexpectedly started speaking to the girl in French. The girl answered perfectly
once again.
The next man decided to test her Spanish. Then her Russian.
And with every new answer, the room became quieter.
No one was laughing anymore.
But Richard still refused to show surprise.
He coldly smirked and said:
— Memorized phrases mean nothing. Real work involves documents, contracts, and mistakes that cost millions.
After that, he grabbed a thick folder containing an international contract written in German and casually threw it in
front of the girl.
— Here. Try to find a mistake in this. Our specialists have been checking this contract for almost a month.
Several employees smirked, expecting this to finally end.
But the girl opened the contract and quickly flipped through the pages.
Less than a minute passed.
And suddenly she stopped.
Then she looked up at Richard.
— There’s a mistake here.
Someone in the room quietly chuckled.
But the girl was already pointing at one of the paragraphs.
— In the German version of the document, one legal term is written incorrectly. Because of that, this clause
completely changes the meaning of the contract.
The smile slowly disappeared from Richard’s face.
He quickly grabbed the contract from her hands.
For several seconds he silently stared at the text.
Then he quickly turned toward the company lawyer.
— Check this.
The man began reading the contract, and within seconds his face turned pale.
— My God…
Complete silence filled the room.
The lawyer slowly looked up.
— She’s right. Because of this mistake, the company could have lost an enormous amount of money after signing.
Now nobody was laughing anymore.
The employees stared at the girl as if they could not understand what was happening.
Richard also remained silent.
And the girl calmly closed the folder and quietly said:
— I noticed the mistake the moment I saw the document.
For several seconds, no one said a word.
Then the owner of the company slowly stood up from the table.
And for the first time during the entire interview, he looked at her with completely different eyes.
— Who taught you all of this?
The girl calmly answered:
— My father was a translator of international contracts. Before he died, he taught me every single day.
After those words, the room fell completely silent.
