š¬ PART 2: Ā«The Groom Who Almost Drank His Motherās SilenceĀ»

Daniel stared at the maid like the room had vanished around them.
āNo,ā he whispered. āMy mother died when I was born.ā
The brideās mother stepped backward, her face drained of color.
The maid shook her head through tears.
āI was seventeen. I worked in your fatherās house. When you were born, they told me you didnāt survive.ā
Danielās hands began to tremble around the phone.
The bride looked from her mother to the maid.
āMom,ā she whispered, horrified. āWhat did you do?ā
Her mother tried to speak, but the maid reached into her apron and pulled out a folded hospital bracelet.
Danielās name was printed on it.
His birth date.
And beneath it, the maidās name listed as mother.
A sob broke out of him.
The bride covered her mouth as tears spilled down her face.
āI didnāt know,ā she cried. āDaniel, I swear I didnāt know.ā
The maid stepped closer, afraid to touch him.
āI came here as staff because I heard your name on the wedding list,ā she said. āI only wanted to see your face once.ā
Daniel looked at the shattered glass on the floor.
āWhy poison me?ā
The brideās motherās voice cracked. āBecause once he married my daughter, he would control the estate. But if he found out who she was before signing the papers, everything would go back to her.ā
She pointed at the maid with hatred.
āTo the servant.ā
The ballroom erupted in shock.
Danielās face changed.
Not with fear.
With grief.
He walked toward the maid slowly, his eyes red and wet.
āYou saved me,ā he whispered.
She nodded, crying silently.
āI couldnāt lose you twice.ā
That broke him.
Daniel dropped to his knees in front of her and wrapped his arms around the mother he had spent his whole life mourning without knowing she was alive.
The bride stood behind them, sobbing as police entered the ballroom and took her mother away.
Daniel lifted his face from the maidās shoulder.
āWhatās your name?ā he asked softly.
She touched his cheek with shaking fingers.
āAnna.ā
He closed his eyes, crying harder.
āMy whole life,ā he whispered, āI wished I knew my motherās name.ā
Anna held him tighter.
And beneath the chandeliers, beside the shattered glass that had almost taken him from her forever, Daniel finally heard the truth from the woman who had never stopped loving him.
