Police report details assault allegations against Patriots’ Stefon Diggs, NFL star denies claims

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is facing allegations involving multiple serious criminal offenses, according to court documents filed in Dedham District Court. The accusations include felony strangulation or suffocation as well as misdemeanor assault and battery, reportedly connected to an incident that occurred on December 2.

Legal representation for Diggs has strongly denied the allegations. In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, attorney David Meier emphasized that Diggs disputes all claims and asserted that the accusations stem from a financial disagreement between Diggs and a former employee. According to Meier, the allegations are unfounded and were never substantiated through an investigation.

“Stefon Diggs categorically denies these allegations,” Meier said. “They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated because they did not occur. The timing and motivation behind these claims are clear—they arise directly from an unresolved employer-employee financial dispute. Stefon intends to clear his name and establish the truth in court.”

According to a police narrative included in the court filing, a woman visited the Dedham Police Department on December 16 and reported an alleged altercation that she said occurred two weeks earlier while she was employed as a private chef for Diggs. She told officers that Diggs entered her bedroom during a discussion about compensation and became angry.

The woman alleged that Diggs struck her in the face and later restrained her by placing his arm around her neck. Officer Kenneth J. Ellis wrote in the report that the woman said she experienced difficulty breathing and feared she might lose consciousness. She also claimed that Diggs pushed her onto a bed and accused her of lying when she said she had not been paid for her work.

The police report states that the woman sought payment for a week of work in November while Diggs was hosting guests. After leaving her position and departing the Dedham residence, she returned on December 9 to retrieve personal belongings. At that time, she claimed Diggs referred her to his assistant, who allegedly told her she would need to sign a non-disclosure agreement before receiving payment. She declined to sign the agreement, according to police.

Officer Ellis noted that the woman was initially hesitant to pursue criminal charges but later changed her mind and formally requested that charges be filed.

Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, is scheduled to be arraigned on January 23. With the AFC Championship Game set for January 25, a judge is expected to review a request to postpone the arraignment to a later date.

Another member of Diggs’ legal team, Michael DiStefano, appeared in court earlier this week and requested that the police report be impounded to prevent public disclosure of sensitive details. DiStefano also told local media that Diggs had proposed financial compensation to the alleged victim in an effort to resolve the matter more quickly, noting that discussions were ongoing.

The New England Patriots acknowledged the situation in a statement, confirming that Diggs has denied all accusations. The organization stated it is gathering additional information and will cooperate fully with authorities and the NFL. The team declined further comment due to the ongoing legal proceedings.

The NFL also released a brief statement confirming awareness of the matter and ongoing communication with the Patriots, adding that it would not comment further at this time.

Diggs, 32, signed a three-year contract with New England during the most recent offseason. In his first year with the Patriots, he recorded 970 receiving yards and four touchdowns across 16 games, playing a key role in the team’s offense. Off the field, Diggs welcomed a child last month with music artist Cardi B.

The case remains under review as legal proceedings move forward.
