Former Little League Star Mo’ne Davis to Compete in Women’s Pro Baseball Tryouts
This marks another chapter in her trailblazing career!
At just 13 years old, Mo’ne Davis broke barriers pitching in the 2014 Little League World Series, becoming the first girl to win a game and throw a shutout in the competition. That historic feat earned her national fame, including a groundbreaking Sports Illustrated cover, the first ever for an active Little Leaguer. Since then, Davis has continued to shine, graduating from Hampton University in 2023 where she played softball.
Now, at 24, Davis is stepping up once again. She will be among hundreds of players trying out for the Women’s Professional Baseball League in Washington, D.C. later this month, Sports Illustrated reports. Davis plans to showcase her skills not only as a pitcher but also at second base, shortstop, and center field.
The Women’s Professional Baseball League is set to launch in the summer of 2026 with six teams, making it the first professional women’s baseball league in the U.S. since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League folded in 1954.
We’re rooting for you Mo’ne!
